Sumatran Tiger Panthera tigris sumatrae

Sumatran tigers are the smallest tiger, weighing around 260 pounds and growing to be around eight feet long. They have narrow black stripes with the darkest orange fur of all tiger subspecies.

Diet:
Sumatran tigers are carnivores and eat a variety of prey species including wild boar, fish, monkeys and more. These tigers are ambush hunters, hunting primarily at night and can run up to 40 mph in short intervals.
Habitat:
Sumatran tigers are native to the Indonesian island, Sumatra.

Born at the Memphis Zoological Garden and Aquarium, Suci arrived at Riverbanks as part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP), a collaborative effort to protect this critically endangered species.

Guests can view our tiger year-round in the habitat next to the African Lions. During the warmer months, guests may see Suci enjoying her habitat pool.
